The Praça de Touros do Campo Pequeno, Lisbon’s bullring, is located off the Avenida da República and reopened in May 2006 after a project costing 50 million euros, of which 12.5 million was spent on the bullring alone. The red brick Neo-Moorish building, designed by Portuguese architect António José Dias da Silva, was inspired by the Madrid bullring and completed in 1892. The distinctive external features have been retained, including the cupolas and the keyhole shaped windows. It is now a multi-event arena which can hold up to 10,000 people and includes a car park, restaurants, cinemas and a shopping centre.
