The Carris Company is now state owned and has been providing transport services in Lisbon since 1872. The museum opened in 1999 and is situated within the Santo Amaro depot under the Ponte 25 de Abril Bridge. Located in two areas, the first covering the history and development of public transport in Lisbon, and the second, which you are taken to by an antique tram, contains fully restored vehicles with period liveries and equipment including horse-drawn vehicles trams and both single and double-decker buses. Great fun for children.
