Built at a cost of 100 million euros, this outstanding modern concert hall became an immediate icon in the city. The polyhedron-shaped building was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, the engineers were Ove Arup in association with Porto associates. Intended for Porto’s European Culture Capital project in 2001, it was eventually completed in 2005. The facilities include a main concert hall, seating more than 1,250, a second auditorium and a 150 seat restaurant.
