Fernando de Castro (1888-1950) was a poet, businessman and caricaturist, but most of all a collector. His sister and heir fulfilled his dream and donated the house, his library and his art collection to the state in 1951. Items on display include modern art, religious sculptures and carvings. Of special interest are the painting of the infant Christ by Josefa de Obidos and figurines by both father and son Teixeira Lopes, from the 19th and 20th centuries.
