The Centre for Modern Art, situated in Gulbenkian Park, opened in 1984. This cultural centre houses not only Portuguese contemporary art, but also works of British artists such as David Hockney, Anthony Gormley and Bill Woodrow. There is also a Henry Moore sculpture in the garden. There are many exhibits by one of Portugal’s most famous artists, José Almada Negreiros, and the internationally known Maria Vieira da Silva, whose works feature in Lisbon’s metro stations.
