The church in Guia is a beautiful baroque building dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The 17th century blue and white polychrome azulejos that line the walls, together with a baroque altarpiece and statue of the Virgin Mary, are in her honour. This is a country church built in the 17th century; it houses statues from the 17th and 18th centuries. The high altar has an 18th century gilded carved retable. Guia is a village with a long history, which has grown rapidly in recent decades mainly due to tourism.
